Introduction

HRPC School of Law offers a guidance and training program for the Bar Transfer Test (BTT) at BPP University. For the Bar Standard Board (BSB) UK. The BTT is provided for the licensed attorneys to practice in the courts in Pakistan and wish to transfer to the Bar of England and Wales. HSoL guidance for the BTT experienced faculty who are barristers and have academic and professional experience.
The registration for BTT is directly with the BSB and BPP University.
HSoL facilitates all prospective BTT students with the information and provides guidance with the registration process for the BTT at BPP University as well as tutorial guidance for the course.
As part of the requirements of successful completion of this course, the students must register as a member of one of the Four Inns of Court in the UK to be called to the Bar. Students apply for the memberships directly to one of the Inns the Qualifying Sessions are attended at their particular inn of membership according to the guidelines provided by the Bar Standards Board.
HSoL provides the tutorial lectures and examination preparation after which the students proceed to the UK to take centralized exams at the BPP University on behalf of the Bar Standard Board.
HSoL assists students in providing the tutorial guidance in respect of the completion of BTT and facilitates students in fulfilling the relevant formalities in respect of seeking exemptions and enrolling in the BPP University according to the guidance provided by the relevant authorities.

Application Review

The applications are reviewed by the HSoL review committee. Only the candidates meeting requirements are selected for Enrollment in each academic year. Therefore it’s advisable to apply at the earliest.

  • Providing a writing sample of 1500 words on a provided legal topic
  • Final Interview

Eligibility criteria

  • LLB.
  • Strong command over written and spoken English.
  • License to practice and appear before any of the courts in Pakistan.

Exemptions:

  • Specific exemptions on some or all exams from Part A could be granted at the discretion of BSB based on academic background and prior experience as an advocate.
  • A licensed lawyer in Pakistan, may usually get exempted from passing the Academic Component sections of the BTT.
  • HSoL will facilitate the candidates with information and provide guidance on seeking exemptions; and the payment of relevant fees.
